Jonathan Demme
Jonathan Demme (1944–2017) was an American director and producer with one of the most varied careers in postwar American cinema. He came up through Roger Corman's production company in the early 1970s before establishing himself with a series of features and documentaries — concert films, family dramas, social satires, and the genre-defining horror-thriller The Silence of the Lambs, for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director. His acclaimed films include Citizens Band, Melvin and Howard, Stop Making Sense, Something Wild, Married to the Mob, The Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, and Rachel Getting Married.
