John Ford
John Ford (1894–1973) was an American director, one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. Across more than fifty years of feature direction he produced a body of work — particularly his celebrated Westerns — that defined an American visual mythology. He won the Academy Award for Best Director four times. His acclaimed films include The Iron Horse, The Informer, Stagecoach, The Grapes of Wrath, How Green Was My Valley, My Darling Clementine, the Cavalry Trilogy (Fort Apache, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Rio Grande), The Quiet Man, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and Cheyenne Autumn.
