Jim Sheridan
Jim Sheridan (born 1949) is an Irish director and screenwriter, one of the most prominent figures of contemporary Irish cinema. After theatre work in Dublin and New York, he turned to filmmaking in his late thirties with the celebrated My Left Foot, an adaptation of the autobiography of the writer and painter Christy Brown that earned him his first of multiple Academy Award nominations. His features have focused on Irish history, family, and immigration. His acclaimed films include My Left Foot, The Field, In the Name of the Father, The Boxer, In America, Get Rich or Die Tryin', Brothers, and The Secret Scripture.
