Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne

Jean-Pierre Dardenne (born 1951) and Luc Dardenne (born 1954) are Belgian brothers who have directed and produced their feature films together since the 1980s. After years making politically engaged documentaries in Liège, they reinvented their fiction practice in the late 1990s with the handheld, ethically charged dramas for which they are now best known. Their close-quarters camera, ensemble of regular collaborators, and uncompromising moral focus have brought them two Palmes d'Or at Cannes. Their acclaimed films include La Promesse, Rosetta, The Son, The Child, The Kid with a Bike, Two Days, One Night, and The Young Ahmed.
