Jane Campion
Jane Campion (born 1954) is a New Zealand director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally celebrated filmmakers from the Antipodes. She trained in anthropology and painting before studying film at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, where her short films first attracted international attention. Her features explore female desire, repression, and the social codes that constrain them, with a strong painterly sense of landscape. Her acclaimed films include Sweetie, An Angel at My Table, The Piano (which won her the Palme d'Or at Cannes), The Portrait of a Lady, Holy Smoke, Bright Star, and The Power of the Dog.
