Jan Troell
Jan Troell (born 1931) is a Swedish director, cinematographer, and editor who became one of the most distinguished Scandinavian filmmakers of his generation. He worked as a primary-school teacher before turning to film, and his hand on camera and editing across many of his own projects gives his work an unusually personal weight. His features have ranged across emigration epics, intimate family chronicles, and historical biographies. His acclaimed films include Here Is Your Life, The Emigrants, The New Land, Hamsun, As White as in Snow, Everlasting Moments, and The Last Sentence.
