Jan Němec
Jan Němec (1936–2016) was a Czech director and screenwriter, one of the central figures of the Czechoslovak New Wave. A graduate of FAMU, he established his international reputation with the surrealist political fable A Report on the Party and Guests, which was banned in Czechoslovakia following the Soviet-led invasion of 1968 and contributed to his subsequent forced emigration. He returned to filmmaking after the Velvet Revolution. His acclaimed films include Diamonds of the Night, A Report on the Party and Guests, Martyrs of Love, Oratorio for Prague, In the Light of the King's Love, and The Ferrari Dino Girl.
