Henry King, King Vidor
Henry King (1886–1982) and King Vidor (1894–1982) were two of the most accomplished American directors of classical Hollywood, both with careers that began in the silent era and continued into the 1950s. King directed many of the major Twentieth Century-Fox productions of the 1930s through the 50s. Vidor directed major silent and sound features for MGM and other studios. King's acclaimed films include Tol'able David, Stella Dallas, In Old Chicago, Twelve O'Clock High, and Carousel; Vidor's include The Big Parade, The Crowd, Show People, Hallelujah, Stella Dallas, Duel in the Sun, and War and Peace.
