Héctor Babenco

Héctor Babenco (1946–2016) was an Argentine-Brazilian director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally celebrated figures of postwar Latin American cinema. He worked in Brazil for most of his career. His acclaimed films include Lucio Flavio, Pixote, Kiss of the Spider Woman (nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director), Ironweed, At Play in the Fields of the Lord, Carandiru, and My Hindu Friend.
