Harry Watt
Harry Watt (1906–1987) was a Scottish documentarian and director, one of the central figures of the British Documentary Film Movement and a longtime presence at Ealing Studios. Trained as an assistant under Robert Flaherty and at the GPO Film Unit under John Grierson, he produced influential documentaries about working life in 1930s and wartime Britain before moving on to fiction features at Ealing, where he specialized in adventure dramas set in Australia and Africa. His acclaimed films include Night Mail, Target for Tonight, Nine Men, The Overlanders, Eureka Stockade, Where No Vultures Fly, and West of Zanzibar.
