Giuseppe Tornatore
Giuseppe Tornatore (born 1956) is an Italian director and screenwriter, one of the most commercially successful Italian filmmakers since the 1980s. A self-taught photographer in his native Sicily who turned to feature direction in his late twenties, he established his international reputation with the nostalgic Cinema Paradiso, a love letter to small-town moviegoing that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His later work has continued to draw on Italian collective memory and on music. His acclaimed films include The Professor, Cinema Paradiso, Everybody's Fine, The Legend of 1900, Malèna, The Best Offer, The Correspondence, and Ennio.
