Gérard Oury
Gérard Oury (1919–2006) was a French director, screenwriter, and actor whose comedies were among the biggest commercial successes of postwar French cinema. He began as an actor before turning to direction in the late 1950s and became closely associated with the comedian Louis de Funès, whose mugging energy he matched with large-scale comic set pieces. Several of his features sold tens of millions of tickets in France. His acclaimed films include The Sucker, Don't Look Now... We're Being Shot At, The Brain, Delusions of Grandeur, The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, and The Vengeance of Veraciousness.
