Georges Franju
Georges Franju (1912–1987) was a French director and a co-founder of the Cinémathèque Française. He produced documentaries and short films for many years before turning to feature direction with a small but exceptional body of work that combined elements of poetic realism, the documentary tradition, and a strong taste for the horrific and uncanny. His acclaimed films include Blood of the Beasts, Hôtel des Invalides, Head Against the Wall, Eyes Without a Face, Spotlight on a Murderer, Judex, and Thomas the Impostor.
