George Roy Hill
George Roy Hill (1921–2002) was an American director who, after a long apprenticeship in radio drama, television, and Broadway theatre, established himself as a feature director with a celebrated series of star vehicles starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for The Sting. His acclaimed films include The World of Henry Orient, Hawaii, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Slaughterhouse-Five, The Sting, The Great Waldo Pepper, Slap Shot, and The World According to Garp.
