Gabriel Axel

Gabriel Axel (1918–2014) was a Danish director who lived and worked for many years in France. After a long career across Danish television and theatre, he won international acclaim late in life with the feature Babette's Feast, an adaptation of an Isak Dinesen story that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His acclaimed films include The Red Mantle, Babette's Feast, Christian, and Prince of Jutland.
