G. W. Pabst
G. W. Pabst (1885–1967) was an Austrian-German director, one of the central figures of the New Objectivity strand of German Weimar cinema. He worked as a stage actor and director before turning to filmmaking, and produced a body of features distinguished by their psychological intensity, social engagement, and pioneering editing techniques. His acclaimed films include The Joyless Street, The Love of Jeanne Ney, Pandora's Box, Diary of a Lost Girl, The White Hell of Pitz Palu, Westfront 1918, The Threepenny Opera, Kameradschaft, and L'Atlantide.
