Fred Niblo
Fred Niblo (1874–1948) was an American director, one of the major figures of late silent-era Hollywood. A former vaudeville performer and stage director, he turned to film direction in the late 1910s and became known for large-scale historical and adventure features, most notably the original Ben-Hur. He was also one of the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His acclaimed films include Sex, The Mark of Zorro, The Three Musketeers, Blood and Sand, The Temptress, Camille, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, The Enemy, and The Mysterious Lady.
