Fei Mu
Fei Mu (1906–1951) was a Chinese director, one of the great figures of Republican-era Chinese cinema. After self-taught beginnings as a film critic and screenwriter, he directed his first feature in the early 1930s. His 1948 feature Spring in a Small Town, made on the eve of the Communist revolution, is widely regarded as one of the greatest Chinese films ever made and has been hugely influential on later generations of Chinese filmmakers, including Hou Hsiao-Hsien and Tian Zhuangzhuang. His acclaimed films include Song of China, Confucius, and Spring in a Small Town.
