Elem Klimov
Elem Klimov (1933–2003) was a Soviet director, one of the most important figures of late Soviet cinema. Trained at VGIK in Moscow, he was the husband of the director Larisa Shepitko and completed Shepitko's project Farewell after her death. His feature Come and See, a hallucinatory account of a Belarusian boy's experience of the Nazi invasion, is widely regarded as one of the greatest war films ever made. His acclaimed films include Welcome, or No Trespassing, Adventures of a Dentist, Sport, Sport, Sport, Agony (Rasputin), Farewell, and Come and See.
