Edward Sutherland
Edward Sutherland (1895–1973) was an American director who worked in classical Hollywood from the silent era through the 1950s. He came up as an actor with Charlie Chaplin and worked as Chaplin's assistant on A Woman of Paris before turning to direction. He directed comedies for many of the major American comic actors of the studio era. His acclaimed films include International House, Mississippi, Diamond Jim, Poppy, The Boys from Syracuse, One Night in the Tropics, and Bring On the Girls.
