Dusan Makavejev
Dušan Makavejev (1932–2019) was a Yugoslav director and screenwriter and a leading figure of the Yugoslav Black Wave. Trained in psychology and film, he became known for hybrid features that combined fiction, found footage, political slogans, and erotic provocation in irreverent collages of socialist and counter-cultural material. His best-known film WR: Mysteries of the Organism brought him international attention and lasting trouble at home. His acclaimed films include Man Is Not a Bird, Love Affair, or the Case of the Missing Switchboard Operator, Innocence Unprotected, WR: Mysteries of the Organism, Sweet Movie, and Montenegro.
