Denys Arcand

Denys Arcand (born 1941) is a Canadian director and screenwriter from Quebec, one of the most internationally celebrated figures of Quebec cinema. Trained in history at the Université de Montréal, he worked in documentary for the National Film Board of Canada before turning to fiction features. His feature The Barbarian Invasions won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His acclaimed films include The Decline of the American Empire, Jesus of Montreal, Stardom, The Barbarian Invasions, Days of Darkness, and The Fall of the American Empire.
