Cy Endfield

Cy Endfield (1914–1995) was an American director, screenwriter, and inventor whose career was reshaped by the Hollywood blacklist of the 1950s. After establishing himself with a series of tough American B-features, he was blacklisted and emigrated to Britain, where he reinvented his career under various pseudonyms and then under his own name. His best-known British features made him a defining figure of late-1950s and 1960s British genre cinema. His acclaimed films include The Underworld Story, The Sound of Fury, Hell Drivers, Mysterious Island, Zulu, Sands of the Kalahari, and De Sade.
