Costa-Gavras

Costa-Gavras (born 1933) is a Greek-French director and screenwriter whose name became synonymous with the political thriller. After emigrating from Greece and training at IDHEC in Paris, he turned the procedural thriller into a vehicle for serious historical investigation, beginning with Z, a barely fictionalized reconstruction of the assassination of a Greek leftist politician. His subsequent features have addressed political repression and corruption across continents. His acclaimed films include Z, The Confession, State of Siege, Missing, Music Box, Amen., and Adults in the Room.
