Ciro Guerra
Ciro Guerra (born 1981) is a Colombian director and screenwriter, the most internationally acclaimed figure of contemporary Colombian cinema. Trained in film and television at the National University of Colombia, he made his feature debut Wandering Shadows in his early twenties. His later work has frequently engaged with indigenous Amazonian cultures and with the politics of memory and ethnography. His acclaimed films include Wandering Shadows, The Wind Journeys, Embrace of the Serpent (nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film), Birds of Passage, and Waiting for the Barbarians.
