Céline Sciamma
Céline Sciamma (born 1978) is a French director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally celebrated figures of contemporary French cinema. Trained at La Fémis, she established her reputation with a trilogy of features about female adolescence — Water Lilies, Tomboy, and Girlhood — before producing the historical romance Portrait of a Lady on Fire and the small-budget fantasy Petite Maman. She has also been a celebrated screenwriter for other directors, including the animated feature My Life as a Courgette. Her acclaimed films include Water Lilies, Tomboy, Girlhood, Portrait of a Lady on Fire (which won the Best Screenplay prize at Cannes), and Petite Maman.
