Carol Reed
Carol Reed (1906–1976) was a British director and one of the most accomplished figures of postwar British cinema. He trained as a stage actor before turning to filmmaking in the 1930s and produced a steady run of features that fused literary adaptation, taut suspense, and a strong sense of place. His three collaborations with the novelist Graham Greene are among the canonical works of British studio cinema. His acclaimed films include Odd Man Out, The Fallen Idol, The Third Man, Outcast of the Islands, The Man Between, Trapeze, and Oliver! (for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director).
