Buster Keaton, Edward F. Cline
Buster Keaton (1895–1966) was an American actor, director, and stunt performer regarded as one of the supreme comic artists of silent cinema. Trained from infancy in his family's vaudeville act, he co-directed many of his classic two-reelers and features with the writer-director Edward F. Cline. Keaton's deadpan persona — known as the Great Stone Face — and his extraordinary feats of physical comedy and stunt-work were paired with a precise, often architectural sense of visual composition. Keaton and Cline's acclaimed shorts and features include One Week, The Boat, Cops, The Frozen North, The Paleface, and The Balloonatic.
