Andrzej Munk, (Witold Lesiewicz)
Andrzej Munk (1921–1961) was a Polish director and one of the central figures of the Polish School of postwar cinema. Trained at the Łódź Film School, he developed an ironic, anti-heroic alternative to the romantic-tragic mode of his contemporary Andrzej Wajda. He died in a car accident during the production of his final feature Passenger, which was completed by Witold Lesiewicz from existing footage. His acclaimed films include Man on the Tracks, Eroica, Bad Luck, and Passenger.
